The element of presentation is all about how you present yourself out to the world. Having good posture is an important aspect in your presentation. It exudes confidence and vitality, not only to others, but also to yourself. The positive impacts of good posture go beyond just your outward appearance too. Good posture improves your breathing, strengthens your core, alleviates back pain, helps your digestion, helps keep your spine and neck healthy, and even helps prevent headaches. So, with all that in mind, this week I wanted to remind you to pay attention to your posture and give a few quick tips on maintaining good posture.
- Throughout the day create a habit of checking on your posture. If needed, pull your shoulders back bringing them over your hips, engage your core, and align your neck with your shoulders.
- Try not to stay in the same position for a long period of time. If you have to sit for long periods, take short breaks to stand up and move around.
- In addition to changing positions often, stretching can benefit your posture. Here’s a link to a video with stretches focused on improving posture… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPlCatqZRPI
