This week I’m recommending the book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo to anyone needing some help and direction in the element of organization. The title caught my attention and gave me a laugh because when I’m upset I tend to start organizing and cleaning, and, like magic, it makes me feel better. Perhaps I’m a bit weird in that respect, but after reading the book, I do believe it could magically change people’s lives that are struggling to get and keep their surroundings decluttered and organized.
As I read Kondo’s book, I could feel her passion for organizing. She appears to have truly found her calling in life and has developed a clear and systematic way to organize spaces and keep them that way. Her book walks you through tidying by category one item at a time and deciding whether to keep it and where to put it. She helps you discard items you have been holding on to and to only keep and bring in items you truly need and love. If you follow her steps, you will be able to easily find things when you need them and know exactly where to put them when you’re done using them. You’ll find your spaces feel freer, calmer, and lighter and that you’ve not only decluttered your spaces but your life too.
I believe the spaces you spend your time in influence you and when keep your spaces clutter free, organized, clean, and tidy, you can think clearer and your life flows easier. Give The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing a try if you’d like guidance in organizing your spaces. I’d love to hear about any positive impacts it has on your life.
