Spread a Little Kindness

I think the quote from Aesop “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted,” is a good reminder of the power of random acts of kindness. You never know what a person might be going through and the impact an act of kindness might have or how the act might inspire a ripple effect of goodwill. Kindness is a powerful, positive force. So this week for the element of spirit, I’ve listed some ideas for spreading a little kindness out into our world.

Random Acts of Kindness Ideas…

  • Give someone a genuine compliment
  • Pick up litter
  • Smile at people
  • Invite an elderly neighbor over for coffee or tea
  • Give your pet some extra attention
  • Hold doors open for others
  • Make a healthy soup to take to someone who is ill
  • Tell others what you appreciate about them
  • Give a homeless person a meal or gift card to a restaurant
  • Give a homeless person a blanket or jacket during cold weather
  • Bring snacks or a meal to teachers, police officers, or firefighters
  • Let someone go ahead of you in line
  • If you know someone who’s lost their job, anonymously send them a grocery gift card
  • If someone new moves in by you, bake something for them and bring it over to introduce yourself
  • Offer to collect a neighbor’s mail when they go out of town
  • Surprise your coworkers with a treat
  • Do a chore that someone else normally does
  • If you know someone who’s going through a difficult time, take them to lunch
  • If you know new parents, offer to babysit for free
  • Be on the lookout for opportunities to help (i.e. letting a car go ahead of you in traffic or helping someone carry something heavy)
